1. Who we are
Alignn is a people intelligence platform operated by Alignn (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa. In these Terms, we refer to ourselves as "Alignn", "we", "us", or "our". When we say "you" or "your", we mean the person or business using the Alignn platform.
If your employer signed up for Alignn and added you to their account, your employer is our customer (the "Subscriber") and you are an authorised user of their account. These Terms apply to both Subscribers and authorised users.
2. What Alignn does
Alignn helps employers understand and predict human risk in their teams. We do this through weekly pulse surveys, personality assessments, pre-shift fitness declarations, anonymous safety reporting, and AI-generated reports for managers and company administrators.
We are a software service. We are not your employer, and we do not make employment decisions on your behalf. Decisions about hiring, firing, promotion, or discipline are always made by your employer using their own judgement.
3. Your account
To use Alignn, you need an account. You agree to:
- Give us accurate information when you sign up
- Keep your password confidential
- Tell us as soon as possible if you think someone else has accessed your account
- Use Alignn only for the purposes it was designed for
You may not share your account with anyone else. Each person who uses Alignn must have their own account.
4. Acceptable use
When you use Alignn, you agree not to:
- Try to break, hack, or interfere with the platform
- Try to access data that does not belong to you
- Use Alignn to harass, threaten, or harm other people
- Submit false or misleading information through the platform
- Use Alignn in any way that breaks South African law
If you do any of these things, we may suspend or close your account.
5. Subscription, payment, and cancellation
Subscribers pay a monthly fee per user, billed in South African Rand. Pricing is shown on our pricing page. We may change our pricing from time to time, but we will give Subscribers at least 30 days' notice before any price change takes effect.
Subscribers can cancel their subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing month. We do not refund unused portions of the month.
If a Subscriber's payment fails, we may suspend access to the platform until payment is received. After 30 days of non-payment, we may close the account and delete the data.
6. Your data
You own the personal information you put into Alignn. We process it on behalf of the Subscriber (your employer) according to our Privacy Notice and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We do not use your personal information to train AI models for other companies. The AI models we use to generate reports are run on your data only for your benefit.

7. Honest answers and confidentiality
Alignn only works if employees give honest answers to pulse surveys and shift checks. We protect this in several ways:
- Pulse survey results are aggregated. Employers see team-level trends, not individual responses.
- We never show aggregated views to managers when fewer than five people contributed, because small groups can identify individuals.
- Anonymous safety reports do not include the reporter's identity unless the reporter chooses to identify themselves.
- Open-text responses (where you type free-form answers) are encrypted and only readable by the platform's automated analysis, not by your employer.
We treat the trust that employees place in this confidentiality as the most important promise we make.
8. Our intellectual property
The Alignn platform, our brand, our reports, and our methodology are our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or resell any part of Alignn without our written permission.
The personality assessment used by Alignn (Personyx) is a proprietary framework refined over two decades of practitioner work. The framework, scoring, and report templates are confidential.
9. What we are not responsible for
Alignn provides information and predictions to help employers make better decisions. We are not responsible for:
- Decisions your employer makes based on Alignn's reports
- Outcomes that depend on factors outside the platform
- Loss of data caused by your own actions or by third-party services we depend on
- Lost revenue, lost profits, or other indirect losses
To the maximum extent allowed by South African law, our total liability to any one Subscriber in any 12-month period is capped at the amount that Subscriber paid us in that period.
This clause does not limit our liability for fraud, gross negligence, death, or personal injury caused by us, or for any other liability that cannot be limited under South African law.
10. Service availability
We aim to keep Alignn available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may need to take the platform offline for maintenance, upgrades, or to fix urgent issues. When we plan maintenance, we will give Subscribers reasonable notice.
If the platform is unavailable for an extended period, contact us at hello@alignn.app and we will work with the affected Subscriber on appropriate remediation.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will publish the new version on alignn.app/terms and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify Subscribers by email at least 30 days before the new Terms take effect. Continued use of Alignn after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by South African law. If we have a dispute that we cannot resolve through good-faith discussion, the dispute will be referred to the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division, Johannesburg.
Before going to court, both parties agree to attempt mediation through a mutually agreed mediator for at least 30 days.
